Reminder re: Stone Telling editorial board
Thank you to Rose for posting this! <3 I feel a bit awkward bringing it up myself, especially since I'm sure nobody on my flist does this! But, it's a general FYI cause the issue is getting a bit ridiculous by now.

edit to add: the forms suggested below are not the only ones that are okay! But we're really not in favour of people only addressing subs to Rose.

When you are sending a submission to Stone Telling, the following forms of address are ok:

Dear Editors,
Dear Stone Telling team,
Dear Rose and Shweta,
Dear Shweta and Rose,
Dear Ms. Lemberg and Ms. Narayan,
Dear Ms. Narayan and Ms. Lemberg

(Also, I am a Dr. (of Philosophy!) so if you are so moved, Dr. Lemberg and Ms. Narayan is fine, but it is by no means required.)

The following forms of address are not ok:

Dear Rose,
Dear Ms. Lemberg,

Stone Telling has two editors. Please address your submissions to both.

Thank you.

P.S. Jennifer Smith is also an important part of our team, though as a rule she does not make editorial decisions. Some people like to address their submissions to all three of us, and that's good, though not a requirement.

P.P.S. If we accept your submission, you might be corresponding with one of us more than the other; we operate on the "spoons available" basis.

How many people on your flist co-edit magazines? :)

I dunno actually :)
But reference ambiguity on my part, I meant surely nobody on my flist is addressing only you in subs...

Excellent reminder. Thanks!

erm. Now I'm embarrassed because I just sent something with simply "Hi,". I mean um, that doesn't leave out anyone, and I wrote the email in a way which makes it clear I'm not addressing it only to Rose (it mentions Rose in third person, not second), but er, it starts with "Hi,". *HIDES UNDER A ROCK*

Hi is totally fine and nice and lovely! Please don't hide <3

It's just the specific address to Rose, and leaving me out, that is *really* starting to get old. People have been doing it for, what, 5 issues now?

....ok then... :]

I definitely haven't forgotten about you, I just had a very strange dream featuring you (in an even stranger role)! :]

your weird dreams are much more interesting than mine!

Also speaking of alien invasion settings that would be fascinating, I am reminded of a webpage that says medieval South Indian flourished "unbothered by the alien invasions that rocked the North".

er, medieval southern indian *empires*

Now there's a fascinating alternate history I'd love to read! Multiple alien invasions of medieval Northern India!

I know, right? Only it would really need to be written by someone from the northern part of the subcontinent.

"Hi" is fine.

Personally I prefer students who write "Hi Professor" or "Hello" to students who call me Mrs (surprisingly many)

I am definitely one of the people who sent a "Dear Rose" submission; I was oblivious to the fact that you'd become a permanent co-editor and not just a guest editor. Rose's entry and a quick visit to the "about" page straightened me right out. My apology for the oversight! You've been doing outstanding work, and I've enjoyed reading it, without realizing it was yours.

I'm glad it's straightened out. In any case, believe me, if you were the only one we wouldn't have a post about it.
