several good things in an ordered list
...maybe makes a post?  Um, hi :)

1) The Bloodchildren anthology is only available till saturday!  It's edited by the wonderful nisi_la , has offerings from all the Butler scholars so far, and offers an amazing diversity of perspectives.  And proceeds go the butler scholarship so! It's all round good.  (Also: it contains several stories that I LOVE!)

2) A new issue of Goblin Fruit!  Squeee! And it contains my poem Sheshnaag (which is my first overtly queer poem btw), and the glorious art resonates so beautifully with my pome I am falling over with gleeee.  Look at this art snippet is it not delicious?

3) And the first Interfictions Online issue is out, containing many wonderful unclassifiables! I'm looking forward to nomming the whole thing; so far I've only read  rose_lemberg 's Bone Shadows, which I LOVE WITH LOVE and identify with way too much and ahhhh I just want to hug it.  I remember when I only had a single shadow, rolled upon itself like a carpet.

4) Total topic change: I'm rather pleased with the birthday cake I made myself this year and must share.  a) because I managed to make a cake, b) because it's a gluten-free cake that turned out really well (recipe here), c) because chocolate, with cardamom-orange icing! and d) because look:

5) The Nephew sent me an ordered list for my birthday. It was way cuter than this one.  Best birthday present ever!

6) I seem to have adjusted to the last cortisol taper and can't do the next one till after blood work in July sometime, so I should have a good few weeks now.  Which is not to say I expect to be here more, yet. All spoons go into Stone Telling till the next issue is out! After that it depends on the body. And, you know.  The body is untrustworthy. It falls ill.
(Which circles back round to the beginning, sort of, since Girl Hours is a Sofia poem and Sofia is an Interfictions editor ^-^ )

Good to see you back!

Hi I miss you!

...Though while I hope I'm back I'm not promising anything because we've seen how that goes. (Just ftr I do check email even on most bad days even if I'm not around here...)

...did I spell that right? Firefox doesn't believe I did. Anyway! Love! And LOVE how you use the Navaratna necklace in it! And yeah.

Oh, thank you! I am so glad you enjoyed it.

When spoons become available, I would so love to see Scotland through your eyes, or Edinburgh, even just a smidge of it.

I don't actually see much of it myself. Too many smokers. I have to breathe through a scarf to go anywhere.
But when spoons become available I might see more, let's be optimistic.

Oh yes. I forgot about that. Argh.

How I loved your story in the Bloodchildren anthology. I thought it one of the three best.
shweta_narayanshweta_narayan on June 20th, 2013 02:08 pm (UTC)
awww thankyou! That gives me happies! <3

My faves are Kai's, Rochita's, and Lisa's. But I feel that the antho's strength is as much in the variety of perspectives and types of story as in the specific stories, if that makes sense? A lot of anthos even if all the stories are very strong, they can be same-ish, and I end up with limited enthusiasm. No fear of that here!

Yes! There was only one that didn't work for me, and that was just the style, not the content. It was better than many, perhaps most, anthologies.

Those are all very good things.

Yay!! I'm happy to see you! :]

I've just bought Bloodchildren yesterday - when it came out there were sheganigans with my bank account and I ended up forgetting to buy it, I thought there was still time to sort things out; I was just reminded of it by Sofia's post. (Sofia is everywhere :D )

The cake is EEEEEEEEEEEEE! It looks wonderful :]

I'll have to read the entire issue of Goblin Fruit later today (I have to go out and buy things, right now) - your poem is A Yay and the art is also A Yay!

Hiiii! I'm happy to see you too :)

And yay for getting bloodchildren, and yes! Yay for Sofia being everywhere! With the diss done hopefully she'll have time to continue being everywhere :D

I wish I could teleport cake to you! To all my friends :D I certainly made enough to do so if only I could find a teleporter! Sadly it would not survive mailing.

I just finished reading the Goblin Fruit issue and overall I'm full of squee for it :3

I love that poem. I'm so glad it has a home.

And glad to see you here, too!

Even if you can just nod in, it's very nice indeed to see you. Happy birthday. That is a fine cake.

hi! Thank you! I wish I could teleport you some <3

Got a cold after birthday thing, which was pretty much inevitable given my joke of an immune system, but oh well it was worth it.

Thanks for mentioning the Bloodchildren anthology! I remember when it came out and remembered it would only be available for a limited time, but I decided I'd buy it later and ended up forgetting about it. I just bought it a few seconds ago. :)

Also, belated happy birthday and congratulations on the sales and publications that have happened since I stopped reading LiveJournal on a regular basis.
