In honor of old-school skiffy
My tribute to a certain type of writer, one that is apparently knows what people want and don't want to read (e.g. "people don't want to read about menopausal women.")
Thanks to recent conversations with rose_lemberg .

I think I am going to have to heart you forevers for having a boobierocketships tag.
shweta_narayanshweta_narayan on July 18th, 2010 07:44 pm (UTC)
You can have one too! They are free :)

*giggles*

I am a tag-fail zone. I think I have used tags on . . . okay, how many tags do I have. . . 13 tags. Two of which have been used more than once.

(They've each been used twice)

...that's even more pathetic than I was expecting.

*goes to sit in the corner with the TAG DUNCE cap on*

Well i have to admit that my interesting tags are generally used once or so... :)

Why does that woman look like she's a c-list actor out of her league in a b-movie whose been told by the despairing director to just pretend she's constipated? Props to the imaginative costumer, who clearly will be moving up to de-Mille-esque historical epics, but on a body that slack with an expression like that, even a hawt gown like that is not sexy. When I want to read boobies and rocketships, I want them to be sexy boobies and rocketships.

With kicky boots.

I'm afraid you'll have to find your own image then :) I can't find any where the (always blonde) D in D has any sort of sense in her expression.
some guy named Larrylnhammer on July 18th, 2010 11:13 pm (UTC)
Sometimes when she's wielding the raygun, she seems to have the appropriate facial expression. Though not kicky boots, as those never seem to go with formfitting spacesuits, for some reason.

Clearly photoshop is required.
some guy named Larrylnhammer on July 19th, 2010 12:34 am (UTC)
My photoshop skillz are, alas, the sort that involve wheels of lame rolling through the camp. "My feet are pasted on yay" is not the look to go for here.

shweta_narayanshweta_narayan on July 19th, 2010 12:38 am (UTC)
It would amuse!

But could I ask you not to use "lame" in this space? It's problematically ableist language. Thanks :)
some guy named Larrylnhammer on July 19th, 2010 04:05 am (UTC)
Ah -- sorry. (I'm actually quoting a badly proofread edition of Romance of the Three Kingdoms -- the text was supposed to read "wheels of flame".)

I'm not sure which version makes less sense

And thanks!
some guy named Larrylnhammer on July 19th, 2010 03:00 pm (UTC)
The context is someone was attacking a military camp at night and set fire to the supply carts. (It really is an unfortunate edition, in some ways.)

You are awesome. :-)
shweta_narayanshweta_narayan on July 18th, 2010 08:30 pm (UTC)
Thank you! But Rose provided the awesome; I just did the visuals :)
Dr. Kvetchrose_lemberg on July 18th, 2010 10:05 pm (UTC)
You have a strange definition of "awesome" that I have provided in this case.
shweta_narayanshweta_narayan on July 18th, 2010 10:06 pm (UTC)
boobie!rocket!ships!

Okay that *is* a strange definition of awesome, I grant you.

I <3 this SO DAMN MUCH.
Alan Yeealan_yee on July 18th, 2010 11:15 pm (UTC)
Brilliant. I swear, some of those old-school SF magazines looked like they were geared toward horny fourteen-year-old boys, based on the covers.
shweta_narayanshweta_narayan on July 18th, 2010 11:31 pm (UTC)
So I guess that was good marketing, since they were :D

Keffykehrli on July 18th, 2010 11:58 pm (UTC)
Well, they probably want rocketships that have their OWN boobies, thus making women totally unnecessary?
shweta_narayanshweta_narayan on July 19th, 2010 12:00 am (UTC)
You know, there was one cover I found that was pretty much like that.
Maybe I shoulda used that one...
