Guys, could we talk about implicit erasure?

I've been putting off a post on it since Mythcon last year because, well, my thoughts on it are not coherent beyond "this bothers me". But it keeps coming up, so, hm, maybe incoherent thoughts could start a conversation. It's one I think we need to have.
Though, cut for length.Collapse )

The bad: Looks like it's not a good idea to donate to Yele Haiti after all.

Internal Revenue Service records show the group has a lackluster history of accounting for its finances, and that the organization has paid the performer and his business partner at least $410,000 for rent, production services, and Jean's appearance at a benefit concert. Though the Wyclef Jean Foundation, which does business as Yele Haiti Foundation, was incorporated 12 years ago--and has been active since that time--the group only first filed tax returns in August 2009.

The good: My Clariondiego classmate keyan_bowes has a story up in Cabinet des Fees! This was one of Keyan's Clarion stories, and is a really fun look at how deeply creepy fairy tales and nursery rhymes can be. Check it out!
