It seems to me that every online discussion of diversity, no matter how nuanced and interesting, has an obligatory post that goes something like, "Maybe I'm just radical, but I think editors should just pick the best stories, and not go for some sort of quota thing."

I am starting to wonder: do these people have any notion what the word "radical" means?
Because they are.  And not in a good way.  And they seem to think they're being sarcastic.

I have had a major temperature crash, had to miss dinner with Clarionites and the Vandermeers and some of my Clarion classmates, as well as the Vandermeers' reading, have gained a massive headache, and am sitting around with a hot water bottle in 75-degree weather.

I also have coherence issues because of this, and memory issues, and I am not particularly social when I have coherence and memory issues beecause I expect people around me to judge me as an able person would be judged.

Also I got home to discover that I can't breathe in the living room or the bedroom because of an issue that I should have insisted we deal with a week ago.  But you know, the constant battle to get people to believe I am actually sick and have more needs and fewer resources than they think I should does wear on me, and sometimes I just give in.  And pay for it later.

The upshot is all this I'm unlikely to respond to anything said since I last responded, and I don't want to respond to anything now, so I'm turning comments off on this post.
