I wrote this one the same day as Courted:a dirge, with which I started this crowdfunding thingie, and in fact I wrote it first, as a birthday poem for seajules , and it's posted here with her permission.  I wrote it at the last minute, and thought till I did that I couldn't.  Sort of like the tarot sonnets you guys have funded -- I just finished a draft of the last one, and only now do I think I can post them all.  (So er it's your fault I'm posting this late.  That's my claim and I'm sticking to it.)

Another technically-short one at 22 lines, but it feels longer to me, perhaps because of what it does?  I dunno.  I just write these things. Luckily seajules  and tithenai both like death in their birthday poems...
Oh, and I'd be remiss if I didn't note that I got the repetition right thanks to elsmi !

----

when you are vast
for Jules

You know her, love
the birds all know
she shows her love in salt
    -strong tears poured into
rough-worn sockets lined
and pocked with red
stars green stars glittering
bright, empty
of eyes, of eyes

the birds all know you
won't need eyes
not under when you're under when you're
under the wet rhythm of her love
when you are vast
your bright brine-soaked jewels
stare at nothing when she lets you up to air
nothing that is not her.  The birds know
this nothing, love, this offering the birds
know love will pour and salt
    -strong tears into
your rough sockets
and the stars, the stars will follow
